Gov. Schweitzer ends Montana film advisory council

Gov. Brian Schweitzer scrapped the Montana Film and Television Advisory Council on Friday, nearly a month after a group of TV and film workers asked him to replace the panel with a smaller number of members that better represent them.

The 29-member council was appointed by the governor last summer to attract the film industry back to Montana.

It includes actors like Margot Kidder and Peter Fonda, but members of the Coalition of Concerned Montana Film and Television Professionals claimed in a letter last month it was largely absent of workers who are the backbone of film productions.
