By a 3-1 margin, voters believe Montana is heading in the right direction when it comes to state government, a poll done for the Montana Chamber of Commerce http://www.montanachamber.net and released Friday shows.

It found that jobs and the economy ranked as the single major problem cited by 40 percent of voters, followed by schools and education at 15 percent, environmental issues at 9 percent and taxes and government spending at 9 percent.

The chamber’s telephone poll of 800 Montana voters, taken in early January by Market Research Insight of Gulf Breeze, Fla., has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percent. The poll did not specify the exact dates of the poll, and a chamber official couldn’t be reached for comment.
