Pacific Northwest Angel investment group targets energy startups from Washington, Oregon, Idaho and British Columbia.

A new angel investment group wants to find the next big company to emerge from the Pacific Northwest. But it’s not searching in the traditional pockets of software, biotechnology or medical devices.

As the name suggests, the Northwest Energy Angel Group http://www.nwetc.com/nweangels.pdf believes there is a big opportunity to help energy-related startups — from solar power to alternative fuel companies — grow their businesses.

The group, which got together for the first time last year and will meet again March 9 at the law offices of Stoel Rives, will invest in companies from Washington, Oregon, Idaho and British Columbia. It has made one investment and evaluated a half-dozen startup companies.
