Rep praises 2-year colleges
Montanans have good chances for well-paying trade jobs, says State Rep. Monica Lindeen,

At a Saturday meeting of the American Association of University Women, State Rep. Monica Lindeen, D-Huntley, said one of the keys to consider in the state’s higher-education system is the importance of its community colleges and colleges of technology.
"There a lot of opportunities in Montana and nationally for good-paying jobs that don’t require four years of school, especially in the trades," she said.

UM-Helena expanding community ed program

The University of Montana-Helena plans to expand its community education program.
A recent grant allowed longtime behavioral sciences instructor Pamela Olsen to switch to full-time director of UMH’s community education program in January.
For the past month, Olsen said she’s meeting with community leaders, getting an idea of what might be wanted. The college has offered specific state and business training and certification.
“We belong to the community. That’s why we’re here,” Olsen said. “If we can serve the community, that’s great.”
