Idaho legislative committee approves measure to increase math, science teacher pay

A Senate panel has approved a bill that would increase pay for math and science teachers in a bid to attract more of them to Idaho.
The measure would cost the state around $2.8 million and would increase pay for those teachers 3.75 percent – about $1,125 for a teacher earning $30,000. The raise wouldn’t come until the teacher had been working at least five years – a time lag that some critics said would weaken the measure.
