Creative workers play critical role in economy. Talented people can attract investment but cities must do their homework

Business leaders need to actively help public schools and local government create innovative programs, a former Texas mayor told Portland audiences Friday.
Kirk Watson, former mayor of Austin, Texas, spoke Friday about marrying economic development, environmental protection and recruitment of young, creative workers in cities such as Portland.
