150 high schoolers vie in Business Professionals of America professional competition

Butte High schooler Sarah Hotaling wants to be a pharmacist. Fellow student Krisha Fish is looking toward a career in accounting and finance while Aubrey Martin has no idea what she wants to do.

But all three of them agree that business, in some way, will be a part of their future.

“I really like accounting,” Fish said. “And I want to major in accounting and business in college.” All three girls are members of the Butte chapter of the Business Professionals of America. They tested their skills against 150 other students in a regional competition at Butte High Tuesday.

“It’s kind of like a track meet,” a harried Butte business teacher Maureen Richardson said of the full-blown competition.
