Helena engineering firm, HKM, nominated for national award

Time was of the essence after the washout of several sections of the scenic Beartooth Highway last spring.Timelines for engineering, design work and construction that usually span months or more had to be compressed into weeks or sometimes even days.

For Phil Odegard, a senior project manager in the Helena office of HKM Engineering http://www.hkminc.com/ , the project represented one of the most exciting — if tiring — challenges of his career.

For its innovative and hasty work in helping repair and rebuild the sections of the highway damaged in a rain-on-snow storm last May, HKM has been named the state’s nominee for the American Council of Engineering Companies Engineering Excellence Award.
