Group pushes a better transition to college in Montana

Some local high school students may soon get more help getting into college.

About 30 Hi-Line education professionals attended a meeting Tuesday about College Summit, a program that helps low- and middle-income students’ transition from high school to college. The program works with teens with an average grade-point average of 2.85 who may otherwise opt out of applying for college. The program is a communitywide approach involving local businesses, civic leaders, high schools and colleges. College Summit reports an 80 percent college retention rate for students who complete the program.
