Cities must cooperate to develop jobs

Former Channel 6 anchorman, Mark Browning, spoke to the Pocatello Rotary Thursday about the city’s competition with Idaho Falls and the importance of getting past it.

Browning, the news director at KBCI in Boise, said a conversation with Cal Northam, chief operating officer of Portneuf Medical Center, a year ago led to his speaking at Rotary. He said they were joking about the most important events of 2004.

“Really the most important to be decided was who was going to get the Olive Garden,” Browning said. “We started talking about the rivalry between the two main cities in Eastern Idaho. Cal said ‘You know, that would be a great discussion topic for Rotary.’”
