Wanzenreid says Montana the winner in special session

The special session of the Montana Legislature adjourned shortly after the dinner hour Thursday night, wrapping up a potential four-day session in two days with Gov. Brian Schweitzer getting pretty much what he asked for from the gathering.

Both houses passed House Bill One, the Governor’s appropriations measure that added funding to education and money to start bolstering two state pension funds. They also passed Senate Bill One, the policy measure submitted in conjunction with the appropriations bill.

Legislators added $5.7 money beyond the governor’s request for education, but Schweitzer supporters were able to beat back efforts to add significantly more.
