Montana added to national sex-offender Web site

The Department of Justice announced Friday it was adding Montana to the National Sex Offender Registry Web site.

The Web site provides real-time access to public sex-offender data nationwide with a single Internet search.

Parents and citizens can search the Web site for existing state sex-offender registries beyond their own states.

The Web site was intially available on July 20 with information from 22 states. The registry now connects 42 states.

The remaining states will be available by the end of the year.

The Web site is http://www.nsopr.gov.
