Virginia Governor Warner Approves Sweeping $2 Billion State IT Partnership – Outsourcing on Steroids

The Commonwealth of Virginia has awarded Northrop Grumman Corp. an interim contract to help transform and improve the state’s information technology infrastructure. The interim contract phase is funded at $3.5 million. Upon review by Virginia’s General Assembly, the interim contract will transition to a 10-year contract valued at approximately $2 billion.

Northrop Grumman’s Information Technology (IT) sector will support the Virginia Information Technologies Agency (VITA) in its IT infrastructure transformation of 91 executive branch agencies. IT services provided by the partnership will include staff, equipment and services for mainframes, servers, desktop and laptop computers, voice and data networks, operating systems, e-mail, security, help desk services, and data center facilities.
