Northern Idaho manufacturer, LA Aluminum Casting Co. may add jobs

A pair of new computerized "machining centers" will allow a North Idaho manufacturer to expand its capacity and will likely mean more jobs in the coming year or two.

LA Aluminum Casting Co. http://www.laaluminum.com/ just installed a pair of Fadal drilling and milling machines to speed production in the 27,000-square-foot plant.

"A couple of the older machines were close to worn out," said Bob Oswald, president of the company.

The new machines allow work to be done on several angles at once, he said, speeding up production of vital components.

A major contract for the company is for four components for "towable tanks," rubber bladders used by the military to haul water or fuel and made by three different manufacturers.
