NewWest.Net Announces Bozeman Launch, Major Award Nominations

Bozeman, MT – NewWest.Net, the innovative online publication about the Rocky Mountain West, today announced the launch of a new local site in Bozeman, Montana. NewWest.Net now has local sites in nine communities around the region, including Missoula, Boulder, Aspen, Durango, Salt Lake City, Boise, Northern Idaho, and Albuquerque/ Santa Fe.

http://www.NewWest.Net , which focuses on the culture and economy of the Rocky Mountain West, is pioneering a new form of interactive community publishing that invites a wide range of contributions from journalists and non-journalists alike. Launched in late February, NewWest.Net was recently named a finalist for both “General Excellence” and “Enterprise Journalism” in the prestigious Online Journalism Awards – a rare honor for a brand-new publication. (The winners will be announced in New York on October 29). NewWest.Net is now reaching more than 30,000 readers monthly and continues to grow rapidly.

“Bozeman is one the most dynamic towns in the Rocky Mountain region, and we’re delighted to be able to serve Bozeman residents and visitors with our new brand of community journalism,” said Jonathan Weber, founder and editor in chief of New West. “As the epicenter of Southwestern Montana – an area that includes two Yellowstone Park gateways and a number of growing communities such as Livingston, Ennis and Big Sky – greater Bozeman is at the heart of a range of New West issues relating to growth, the environment, the urban/wilderness interface, rural living and the transition to a high-tech service economy.”

Edited by Nancy Mahoney, New West Bozeman will include regular contributions from Todd Wilkinson, one of the preeminent journalists in the region, and a number of other local writers. Targeted at the educated, engaged citizens of the Rocky Mountain West, NewWest.Net offers news and information on topics including growth and public policy, the environment, business and the new economy, books, film, and events. Service offerings include free classified advertising and a free interactive community events calendar.

New West has also launched an affiliate site in Washington’s Columbia Gorge area, and has developed partnerships with a number of non-profit organizations including Headwaters News and the Colorado College “State of the Rockies” team.

O’Berry Cavanaugh http://www.oberrycavanaugh.com , a Bozeman-based strategic communications firm, is the charter sponsor for New West Bozeman. “For entrepreneurs on the front range of social, political and economic change, New West is critical reading,” said Bridget Cavanaugh, managing partner. “A magazine of national acclaim in our own backyard, New West’s unique editorial connects our community to others like it and in doing so casts an authentic, credible light on the economic, political and social issues facing our region. This has significant growth implications, particularly for service-oriented businesses like mine.”

Chico Hot Springs Resort, Livingston-based PrintingforLess.com, Liquid Planet and Barney Jette Jewelry Design are also among New West.Net’s advertisers.

“PrintingforLess.com http://www.PrintingforLess.com takes a lot of pride in being able to serve customers nationwide and pull that money back into Park and Gallatin Counties,” said Nick Runyon, director of marketing at PrintingforLess.com. “We’re happy to support New West in accomplishing that same thing.”
