Most don’t hog free Net offerings at coffee houses

In the wireless world we live in today, it is not uncommon to see the phrase ‘we have Wi-Fi’ in airports and hotels and on the windows of restaurants and coffee shops.

Wi-Fi is short for wireless fidelity, a technology that allows many computers to connect to the Internet through a single hot spot without physically connecting to a telephone line.

Many local coffee shops have dipped into the Wi-Fi scene and decided to offer it to their customers.

The Pekoe Sip House, 1225 Alpine Ave., introduced Wi-Fi to customers a little over a year and a half ago shortly after they opened, owner Paul Cattin said.

"A big part of our business is those who want to use us as an office away from home, or an office away from the office," he said.
