Choteau, Montana opens doors to movie crew

Independent movie director James Parks arrived in Choteau last month focused on capturing the area’s dramatic scenery for his latest feature film, "Three Priests."

What he found in addition to the panoramic prairie-mountain landscape was a rural town with its door wide open to his actors and crew.

Choteau schools welcomed the producer’s children as "exchange students," the Teton County Sheriff furnished a vehicle for one scene and the library permitted access to its fax and computers. Several businesses worked outside their normal hours and added services to accommodate the visitors from as far away as New York, Los Angeles and Maine.

Choteau residents say they’re happy to have all two dozen members of the film company in town for the 18-day shoot. They’re also grateful for the extra dollars flowing into tills at local restaurants, motels and stores.
