Wireless Internet Institiute Announces Twelve Wireless Communities Best Practices Awards Finalists

To pay tribute to local governments implementing broadband-wireless solutions for cities, counties and regions, the Wireless Internet Institute (W2i) will announce the first-ever Wireless Communities Best Practices Awards at the W2i Digital Cities Convention (West), San Mateo Marriott (San Francisco Airport), October 10-12, 2005.

Local authorities in both rich and poor countries increasingly view broadband connectivity as essential both for the social, economic and
educational development of their communities, and for enhancing public safety and improving government operations while lowering telecommunications costs. Six new Best Practices Awards will honor the path-breaking efforts of local authorities and agencies around the world who are realizing the promise of broadband wireless solutions for their communities.
