Big Sky Airlines cancels planned routes from Kalispell, Spokane to Calgary

Big Sky Airlines canceled new air service from Kalispell to Calgary, Alberta, before it began.

Citing the high cost of jet fuel and a tepid response from the marketplace to the new routes announced earlier this month, company president Fred deLeeuw said the additional service seemed unwise.

The Billings-based airline also canceled its planned daily service between Spokane and Calgary. The plan had been to start the service Oct. 5.
Announcing new routes and then canceling them is risky, deLeeuw said Tuesday. “It’s a credibility issue.”
