Conrad, MT business, Intercontinental Truck Body has contract to build Air Force tractors

A $400,000 grant to Pondera County will help a Conrad manufacturing business prepare for a big contract to build tow tractors for the Air Force, officials said Wednesday.

The county was awarded $400,000 in Community Development Block grant money. It will loan most of the money to Intercontinental Truck Body,http://www.itbusa.com/ which operates a plant east of Conrad.

"It all goes into the business and will be used for the flight-line tow tractor contract," said Rob Cook, Intercontinental’s operations manager.

The Conrad business landed a $29 million, five-year contract to build the tractors for the Air Force earlier this year. Workers and plant officials have been scrambling to ramp up the operation to begin producing the tractors this fall.
