Pay day for three bright, young minds – win contest to encourage student teams to identify local community problems, and then solve them, or make the community more aware.

Nathan Fusselman and Daniel Kelley are rich.

The two seventh grade boys recently received their shares of the prize money awarded to them for being the regional winners of a Cybermission contest sponsored by the US Army.

Their shares came to $2,000 each.

The aim of the contest was to encourage student teams to identify local community problems, and then solve them, or make the community more aware.

Fusselman and Kelley chose the pine bark beetle as their contest topic.

Last April they were informed that they had been named regional winners. A third contest teammate, Caleb Carr, was also involved with the early planning and fact finding contest stages, prior to breaking his leg and having to withdraw from school for a number of weeks.

Fusselman and Kelley insisted that their friend be awarded an equal share of the prize. Carr and his family have since moved to Belgrade.

One requirement of the contest was that the students inform people in the community of how best to deal with the problem. Fusselman and Kelley together composed the following essay, directed at all their tree-loving neighbors in West Yellowstone:
