College of Business opens Bracken Business Communication Center which offers one-on-one technical expertise in business communications

Any Montana State University student who is taking a business class may receive one-on-one writing coaching at the Bracken Business Communication Center that opened Sept. 6 in Room 314-A Reid Hall.

"Regardless of the students’ major, if they are taking a business course they will receive one-on-one technical expertise in business communications from our coaches," said Linda Adams, director of the Bracken Business Communication Center. She said all three coaches in the center have experience in both business disciplines as well as in education.

Adams said students could receive personal help in writing any business-related oral or written communication from a resume, memo, follow-up letter to an interview or any other business-related communications. Additionally, the center will offer help with presentations and even some presentation software, such as PowerPoint.

"We started the center because business writing, as a method of communication, differs from other types of writing," Adams said.

The family and friends of the late Gary K. Bracken, a graduate of the MSU College of Business who died in 2001, made the Bracken Business Communication Center possible from a $3-million endowment.

The center will be open from 12:30-4:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday. For more information, contact Adams at 994-7593.
