* Location! The Flathead Valley is visually and recreationally spectacular. It borders Glacier National Park and is surrounded by the Salish Mountains and the Whitefish, Swan and Mission Mountain Ranges. At 28 miles long and 15 miles wide, Flathead Lake defines the Valley, but there are hundreds of rivers and lakes to explore.

* The primary residential areas in the Flathead Valley are the towns of Bigfork, Columbia Falls, Kalispell, Lakeside/Somers, and Whitefish. The largest population centers are the three incorporated cities Kalispell, with 17,381; Whitefish, with 6,151; and Columbia Falls, with 4,180.

* The Flathead County economy is vibrant, diverse, and growing.

* Entrepreneurs are valued and essential to the Flathead Valley. Nearly 1,000 new businesses were established in the last decade. This is a 44% increase in local employers that marks a boom in entrepreneurial activity.

* In the last decade, 15,700 new jobs were created– an increase of nearly 50%. Dramatic increases occurred in the health care, business services, construction and manufacturing sectors.

* According to Colorado College’s 2004 State of the Rockies Report Card, Flathead County has the most diverse economy of the 282 counties of the western United States.

* 99% of the Valley currently DSL capable. Telecommunications is a key factor in the Valley’s evolving business community. Small and medium sized firms find the Flathead an excellent fit for their business needs. Logistics capabilities in the Valley are excellent and more than 1.5 million tourists visit the area annually.

* Community Life – Flathead County is a great place to work and play. But most importantly, it’s also a great place to live! The county’s population currently stands at close to 80,000. An average Flathead Valley citizen is in his/her mid-30’s, is married, working in some type of service industry, and has at least a high school diploma. There are approximately 31,000 households in Flathead County and the median household income is $37,225.
