MonTEC conference room

Contact: Bryant Ralston [email protected]

The next installment of Missoula GIS coffee talk will be held at the MonTEC conference room this Friday, July 15 from 2:00 to 4:00PM. When you walk in the main doors the conference room is to the right. The address is 1121 E Broadway, Missoula, MT 59802 (406) 532-3200 http://www.montec.org. They are expecting us.

In celebration of summertime, GCS Research and ESRI Montana will be sponsoring a BBQ/cookout immediately following the conclusion of Coffeetalk and most likely starting at 4:00PM (or sooner) behind the MonTEC building adjacent to the Clark Fork River. For those of you new to MonTEC It is a very nice place to enjoy a beautiful summer afternoon and GIS “networking” opportunities abound. We will provide a hot grill, hamburgers and hot dogs, and several kinds of adult malt beverages. However, feel free to make it BYOB (as well as something to grill other than what’s provided if desired).

While we don’t have anything formal in terms of presentation scheduled there is certainly lots going on in the world of GIS to talk about these days in Montana and beyond. A few of us GIS geeks had some recent involvement in the public safety disaster drills in Helena a few weeks ago collectively referred to as “Last Chance One” and could discuss that and there is lots of GIS industry chatter, discussion, deal cutting, excitement (dare I say hype?) about such things as Google Maps/Earth, the Microsoft Virtual Earth, the upcoming ESRI User Conference, continued convergence of GIS into mainstream IT, etc. Lots going on we could discuss with impacts on what we do in Montana.

Hope to see you there!

Bryant Ralston
