University of Montana Practical Ethics Center offers class on ethics

Practical Ethics Center is offering a business ethics class Friday through Monday, July 15-18.

"Management Decision Making and Business Ethics" will be taught by Andy Wicks, an associate professor at the Darden Graduate School of Business Administration at the University of Virginia and co-director of the Olsson Center for Applied Ethics.

By Robert Struckman of the Missoulian

The course will help participants think about ethics in the business environment. The focus of the course will be to identify some of the most pressing and difficult problems that managers confront, according to a press release from UM.

Ethics cases taught in the class will not be clear-cut with easy answers. Rather, the course is designed to teach people how to approach and resolve realistic ethical dilemmas. Because of the contentious and complex nature of these issues, there will be cases that will have no consensus or clear resolution, the release said.

The class will be held in Gallagher Business Building L13 on campus. Times are 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
