South Dakota Launches Hospital Pricing Web Site

A hospital pricing web site created by a new South Dakota law is now available for consumers even though facilities haven’t started reporting data yet. The site can be accessed at http://hospitalpricing.sd.gov.

"We’re very fortunate to have the hospitals’ cooperation on this project," said Doneen Hollingsworth, Secretary of Health. "Hospitals have voluntarily agreed to provide data back to January 1 even though the reporting requirement doesn’t take effect until July 1. Since the law requires 12 months of data to post, that cooperation means we’ll be able to start posting data much earlier in 2006."
