ILX Lightwave (Bozeman, Mont.) Donates Laser Diode Test System to Wuhan National Laboratory in Hubei, China for Optoelectronics

ILX Lightwave’s Equipment Donation is the First of Many for International Colleges and Universities

Today, ILX Lightwave announced that it donated one of its LTS-9110 Laser Diode Test Systems to the Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics, located on the campus of the Huazhong University of Science and Technology in Hubei, China.

The equipment donation is part of ILX Lightwave’s International University Donation Program, which was established to assist colleges and universities in creating quality photonics programs, enabling the next generation of scientists and engineers to remain at the forefront of photonic research and development. Under the program, ILX Lightwave plans to donate $100,000 in equipment to international colleges and universities over the next five years.

The LTS-9110 system ILX Lightwave provided is capable of precision parametric characterization of laser diodes. The donation was made in conjunction with ETSC Technologies Co., ILX Lightwave’s distribution partner in China and was received by Dr. Huang Dexiu, Vice President of the Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoeletronics (WNLO) and Dean of the Electronics and Information College. According to ILX Lightwave President and CEO Larry Johnson, “ILX Lightwave sees this donation as both support of photonics research and a way in which we can connect with the photonics community on a global level.” Johnson noted, “The donation to WNLO is an important step in building strong relationships with international colleges and universities committed to furthering photonics research. We look forward to collaborating with WNLO and other international institutions in the future.”

Last month, ILX also announced that it would provide $100,000 worth of equipment to North American universities over the next five years.
