Emergency officials in Sidney research benefits of Global Positioning System mapping

County officials are currently correcting addresses for the rural addressing program. Butch Renders, county director of disaster and emergency services, says the new addresses should be at the post office by tentatively July 15.

Renders says he has completed corrections for the Fairview, Savage and Brockton communities and is close to being done with Lambert and Richey addresses. He adds he’s about 70 percent finished with Sidney’s corrections.

Once completed, letters will be mailed out, signed by Richland County commissioners, to explain to residents about their new addresses and the program.
