Top students hopeful about region’s future

Tribune names 10 Academic All-Stars

Several of the brightest sons and daughters of northcentral Montana are confident, or at least hoping, their parts of the state won’t fade into the sunset.

About one-third of 10 top graduating seniors from the Hi-Line and northcentral Montana were bullish on their community’s future. Another one-third had doubts, and the remainder were undecided.

The students are members of the Tribune’s Academic All-Stars. They were nominated and selected from 13 northcentral Montana counties based on excellent grades, leadership in school activities and community involvement.

The All-Stars were asked about their community and region’s future after the latest U.S. Census Bureau estimates indicated that eastern and northcentral Montana counties are either failing to gain as many folks as other parts of Montana or losing population.
