In class, but off campus: Tech training available in downtown Great Falls

Businesses can boost their employees’ skills in everything from spreadsheets to Web design without sending anyone back to school. Workers don’t even have to set foot on campus.

Last week, MSU-Great Falls College of Technology opened an offsite training center in the University of Great Falls’ Downtown Technology Center at the former Johnson Hotel, 419 Central Ave.

"We wanted a downtown location to give business people easier access and ourselves more visibility," said Joe Schaffer, director of outreach at MSU Tech.

Funds from past custom training sessions paid to remodel the center, and interior design students from MSU Tech created the décor plan.

Customized training ranges from brushing up customer service skills and learning to use digital cameras to taking software classes.

"If a business or organization wants training, we’ll find someone who can do it" said Linda McNeill, customized training representative for MSU Tech.
