Students, businesses honored – Partners in Education -"partnerships between schools and businesses can help bridge the gap."

Business people and educators gathered Thursday to honor this year’s valedictorians as well as the growing partnerships between businesses and schools.

The luncheon, sponsored by Partners In Education http://www.billingspie.org/ , was held at the Mansfield Health Education Center at St. Vincent Healthcare.

John Brewer, president and CEO of the Billings Area Chamber of Commerce, urged greater partnerships between schools and businesses.

"During the next 15 years, the U.S. will face a shortage of workers," he said. "The requirements of businesses for those with a higher education will rise."

He said partnerships between schools and businesses can help bridge the gap. "These companies (who are involved with Partners in Education) get it. They are excellent role models for corporate citizenship."
