New group promotes biotech in Montana – The Montana Bioscience Alliance

A new trade association has formed to promote the emerging biotechnology industry in Montana, although it has decided to stay out of politics for now.

The Montana Bioscience Alliance http://www.montanabio.org was formed nine months ago, making Montana the 39th state to get its own trade group representing biotech.

The alliance is a mix of private and public entities with its board of directors coming from the governor’s office, the university system and biotech companies.

Board members were at Bozeman’s TechRanch Tuesday making their pitch to potential new members.

"Like it or not, government can do some things really well," said board member David Gibson, associate commissioner for economic development for the Montana University System, who previously ran former Gov. Judy Martz’s office of economic opportunity.
