The Montana Council on Economic Education offers scholarships to teachers interested in economics workshop, June 20-22

The Montana Council on Economic Education is offering scholarships to Montana teachers interested in attending a two-day summer workshop at Montana State University designed to increase understanding of economics and economic education.

"Economics 500 — Applied Economic Education" will be offered June 20-22 at MSU. The three-day workshop is designed to enhance the skills of teachers of social studies, business, math, consumer and family science and other teaching disciplines.

The workshop will include instruction on key economic issues that impact Montana’s economy, ranging from the economic impact of the minimum wage to the cigarette tax, from health care to standard economic issues as scarcity, from incentives, opportunity costs, supply and demand, to comparative advantage.

The seminar will also address national and international economic issues, and teachers will be given an opportunity to be trained on the High School Business Challenge and Stock Market Game simulations, both major programs in Montana schools.

Full scholarships are available that provide housing, meals, materials and the full cost of one graduate credit.
