Currently the new manufacturing plant is only at 70 percent operating status, but management hopes to have the facility at 100 percent by summer.

Company projects sales to jump in new home, grand opening set for May 21

Buck is bursting with blades and business.

With a touch of Idaho.

Now that sport utility knife maker, Buck Knives http://www.buckknives.com/ has all of its departments running at its new 128,000-square-foot facility behind the factory outlets after moving from San Diego, the focus is tweaking the process and topping off staff before an expected onslaught of orders.

"We’re expecting at least a 20 percent increase in business this year," said C.J. Buck, president and CEO of the family-owned company. "That’s not bad after a move."

Buck said the company is hiring and training workers as fast as it can.

"We had to get our facility up and running faster than we projected, even with the inventory we had built up before the move," Buck said. "There was a lot of uncertainty at the end of January."

Buck began making knives in Post Falls in February and is currently operating at about 70 percent capacity.

The plant is currently producing about 16,000 knives a week. By mid-June, 30,000 are expected. Each blade has an engraved outline of Idaho, marking the year it was made.
