Conrad business, Intercontinental Truck Body lands new contract – Air Force deal worth $29 million

A Conrad-area manufacturing business has snared a $29 million contract to build tractor units for the Air Force, work that could allow it to hire up to 30 more workers.

The contract with Intercontinental Truck Body http://www.itbusa.com/ will be formally announced tonight at a ceremony at the Pondera Golf Club.

The new jobs will be a sizable addition at Intercontinental, which currently has 45 employees at a plant 13 miles east of Conrad. It is one of the largest private employers in Pondera County.

The contract “makes a very big difference, especially to Conrad,” said Rob Cook, the company’s operations manager.

Officials at ITB have been working to land the Air Force deal since September.

“This is great news, and a testament to the hard work of the folks in Conrad,” said Montana Sen. Conrad Burns. “This contract will allow Intercontinental Truck Body to hire more workers to fulfill their obligations with the Air Force, and that’s new job creation. This will benefit not only Intercontinental but the community as a whole.”
