Wyoming invests in business school plans

A team of experts has been given the go-ahead to spend $200,000 to begin planning for a proposed executive training center and business school in Teton County.

The steering committee will have up to $945,000 to spend this year developing academic content, establishing tuition and finding a site or sites for the school. The committee can’t spend money without approval by a joint legislative-executive oversight committee, however, and any money it doesn’t spend reverts to the state General Fund.

The oversight committee, in a conference call last week, authorized giving the first $200,000 to the University of Wyoming to begin the planning process, according to House Speaker Randall Luthi, R-Freedom.

The steering committee is led by the dean of the College of Business and includes three others affiliated with the university, along with a member of the Wyoming Business Council.
