Hollywood hits Montana and the students benefit – "MAPS : Media Arts in the Public Schools"

A group of respected filmmakers and media professionals have banded together to fund media arts education in rural, public schools.

Arts Education is the endangered species of America’s public education system. And that’s why we’ve formed MAPS : Media Arts in the Public Schools http://www.mediarts.org . Our mission is to provide a media arts curriculum for middle school and high school students ranging in age from 12 – 18 years. Our mandate focuses on the rural regions of the country, areas that have a lack of arts programming and quality job opportunities.

Incorporated June 18, 2004, our non-profit foundation received IRS non-profit approval October 18, 2004.

The MAPS pilot program, designed for the Corvallis School District of Corvallis, Montana, began September, 2004. Expansion to other school districts is anticipated to commence 2006-2007.

In its first year, the Foundation’s core curriculum has been designated a "School to Work" program by the Office of Public Instruction of the State of Montana.

Peter Rosten, a twenty-five year veteran of the entertainment industry, is the President of the Foundation. A Board of respected media, business and education professionals completes our team. For more information, please visit http://www.mediarts.org.
