Weighing in on Water – Will there be enough?

As the name of his DragonSlayer engineering firm indicates, Ronald Johnson likes to take on issues most people just as soon avoid.

"I’ll do anything nobody else wants to do," Johnson said.

And in North Idaho, that means delving into contentious, murky issues ranging from sewer and a wastewater leak at a train depot to salt on roads and a study on the region’s drinking water source.

Yep, Johnson, semi-retired, had no idea he’d run into such a plethora of topics when he moved to a wooded area north of Rathdrum from San Jose, Calif., more than a year ago.

But as long as he’s here, Johnson figures offering his opinion can’t hurt. He’s quickly becoming a common face at aquifer, chamber of commerce and other water-related meetings. He’s given his two cents in the newspaper.

"When you move somewhere, you don’t know anyone, so you’ve got to get acquainted," Johnson said.
