Business groups pull together – Idaho and Washington Chambers see benefits in collaboration

Money on the minds of chamber leaders

COEUR d’ALENE — Strength in numbers could pay off for the economy not only of North Idaho, but the entire region.

Some three dozen representatives of area chambers of commerce attended the Chamber Day at the Legislature this week, and came away convinced they are being heard.

"If a group shows up, things get done," said Scott Hoskins, co-chairman of the Coeur d’Alene Area Chamber of Commerce’s Public Policy Committee.

About 75 members of the Spokane Regional, Spokane Valley and West Plains chambers went to Olympia, Wash., last week to push their programs. Those include some that affect North Idaho and eastern Washington.

"When people look at us from the outside, they see us as a single region," Hadley said.
