New software to aid City’s development projects

What would happen if an existing commercial building in the city was torn down and replaced with a residential structure?

City and area economic development officials will have answers to those types of questions before any work is started with the help of a new computer software program that will be unveiled at 1 p.m. Friday at Alpha’s Annex.

The CommunityViz Project http://communityviz.org/ , which will be a geographical information system software program used to assist in development projects, will help officials answer what–if scenarios. The city, which will be the first in the area to have it, will join five other communities that already have it.
