Missoula city, county officials generally upbeat about recent developments

The city of Missoula has grown about 3 percent a year since 1990, according to Mayor Mike Kadas. Open space in and around town is an attractive draw to people, but it also drives up the price of available space.

Missoula’s biggest challenge of the past 16 years has been change, and we’re doing a good job of meeting it, city and county officials said Tuesday at the annual State of Missoula luncheon.

Day to day, there’s a lot of smoke and heat coming out of City Hall, Mayor Mike Kadas told a record crowd of 290 people at the Chamber of Commerce event at the Holiday Inn Parkside.

"I think if you step back and look, things are going pretty well in Missoula," he said.
