Colorado No. 3 in the nation for Nanotech

State stands to gain from new industry, national survey says

Chalk it up in part to "dumb luck."

But Colorado ranked No. 3 among the states in its ability to benefit economically from a vibrant local nanotechnology industry, according to a national survey.

Massachusetts and California grabbed the No. 1 and No. 2 spots, respectively, in the survey by nanotech industry researcher Lux Research. The New York firm focuses on the fledgling science of creating new products through the manipulation of atoms and molecules.

Colorado has "an incredible amount of opportunities," said Lux Research Managing Director Mark Modzelewski.
