University of Montana lecture series centers on ethics, morality

If news headlines or stories in your personal sphere have you pondering the question, "Whatever happened to right and wrong?" there’s a special event for such thinkers.

The whole point of the series is to engage the community beyond campus borders by showcasing UM’s faculty through educational and entertaining lectures that are geared to nonstudents.

Beginning Tuesday, Feb. 1, and for the next consecutive Tuesdays through March 8, the University of Montana’s Alumni Association will host its seventh annual community lecture series.

This year’s series will explore ethics and morality with lectures by some of UM’s most charismatic and engaging faculty.

….

Lectures will continue on the following consecutive Tuesdays. They are:

– Feb. 8: "The Role of Truth in Professional Ethics," by law professor Martin Burke.

– Feb. 15: "Media Ethics and Other Frightening Thoughts," by School of Journalism Dean Jerry Brown.

– Feb. 22: "Environmental Ethics as Moral Wilderness," by philosophy professor Deborah Slicer.

– March 1: "Ethics and Health Care: Who Does What to Whom and How?"by psychology professor Ann Cook.

– March 8: "The Pursuit of Happiness" by philosophy professor Albert Borgmann.
