Computer for Kids bridges digital divide

"My name is Amanda. I go to the Idaho School for the Deaf and the Blind. I have been going there for 2 years. I’m a freshman and also the youngest in our whole high school class. I live at the state school during the week and I am able to communicate with my friends with sign language and relay services. When I arrive home for the weekend, I’m not able to communicate with them because most of then cannot hear well enough for phones and also I don’t have a TTY, so that makes it more difficult as well."

Amanda had to write a letter as part of her application to get a computer. She had to explain why she needed it, why it would help her in school. Each of the kids who’s gotten a refurbished machine from the non-profit Computers for Kids had to write one.
