BID hopes to keep Missoula downtown bustling

Backers of a proposed Business Improvement District hope downtown Missoula can trade one acronym for another to keep it clean, healthy and growing.

The proposal has been in the works for almost three years and is moving only slightly faster than the pace of a snail. It’s in the hands of the city now, where staff members are working to verify the 511 signatures of property owners who support forming the district.

All but a few are verified, City Clerk Marty Rehbein said recently. Her office is building a database to handle the information.

The next step will be a visit to the Missoula City Council.
