Tamarack banks on real-estate buyers to finance ski resort expansion – economic ripples splash over County

Fog shrouds the base of America’s newest ski area, but the sun is shining at 6,600 feet. Wolfgram, Tamarack’s recreation director, has a good view of Rainbow Peak and the River of No Return Wilderness beyond.

Tamarack’s economic ripples splash over Donnelly, Valley County

DONNELLY — To see the changes Tamarack Resort has brought to Valley County, Brian Wanner points a visitor to the intersection that doubles as downtown Donnelly, the town seven miles from the ski area.

But as a real-estate agent, he also saw an opportunity.

"It was taking off before we came up," Carr says of the local market, pointing to the end of his street, where there’s a sign for a large new subdivision. "Tamarack has moved the real-estate business immeasurably."
