Economic Development Today Telecast Scheduled For January 18, 2005

The next Economic Development Today telecast is scheduled for Tuesday, January 18, 2005, at 3PM EST on the theme of “The Marriage of Innovation and Entrepreneurship: A New Model for High-Growth Economic Development.”

Panelists will discuss the projected business applications and commercialization outcomes of a new wave of American innovation, and explore the opportunities and challenges for entrepreneurs to capitalize on innovation and thus create high-wage jobs. The telecast will present how the federal, state and local governments are facilitating partnerships in innovation and entrepreneurship; and preparing economic development leaders and practitioners to be more creative in fostering collaborations in economic development.

Joining Dr. David Sampson, Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Economic Development, for this groundbreaking television show will be:

* Phillip Bond, Under Secretary of Commerce for Technology

* Dr. Pamella Dana, Director, Governor’s Office of Tourism, Trade, and Economic Development (OTTED), State of Florida

* Ray Leach, Chief Executive Officer, JumpStart, Inc., Cleveland, Ohio

* Greg Fairbrothers, Director of the Dartmouth Entrepreneurial Network (DEN)
