Advanced Entrepreneurship Seminars

This Spring MADE will be teaching its second annual Advanced Entrepreneurship Seminars course. This year 15 or more successful entrepreneurs from the MADE organization will be teaching MBA and undergraduate students three 1-credit seminar. The seminars have been organized around three separate topics: Managing and Marketing a New Venture, International and High-tech Start-ups, and Financing New Ventures. Space is limited, so sign up for the course to assure that you don’t miss your opportunity to learn from the experts.

16th Annual John Ruffatto Business Plan Competition – Prize Money Increased to $10K

That’s right. The prize money for the John Ruffatto Business Plan Competition has been increased to a total purse of $10,000. The new Director of the Competition, Dr. Jeff Shay, is excited about many changes that he and a group of MADE members are making to improve an already highly successful event. These changes include moving the submission date to April 27, 2005 to afford students writing plans in the spring semester with the chance to compete, offering more opportunities for all semifinalists to share their plans with attendees, and improving the judging process. Lewis & Clark Pioneer in Industry Awards a Big Success

MADE kicked off its third year of existence by holding the First Annual Lewis & Clark Pioneer in Industry Awards events. This year’s award recipients were Liz Claiborne and Art Ortenberg (Founders of Liz Claiborne, Inc.) and Dennis R. Washington (Founder of Washington Group International). The entrepreneurs received their award at a dinner that attracted more than 170 business and community leaders from throughout the Northwest. The following day the entrepreneurs spoke in two classes, sharing their extensive experience and wisdom with SOBA students and faculty. Mark your calendars now, the second annual event will be held on September 28, 2005. MADE promises to bring another outstanding group of entrepreneurs to Missoula to receive awards.
