Landowners discuss pros, cons of outsiders buying Montana property
December 11, 2004 /
Owning a ranch in the West is now part of the portfolio of the wealthy.
The resulting inflationary cost for ranchland is preventing young native Montanans from getting started in the livestock business, and prejudicial inheritance laws do not allow for the passing of the family ranch to the next generation.
Common complaints and obstacles for sure but not as threatening to the economy or culture as it appears.
