Silicon Valley shares its savvy – Program aims to help small, medium firms

The state will be pairing with Silicon Valley business leaders to help advise inner-city small and medium businesses in California how to improve their operations.

A $1.5 million grant through the California Pollution Control Financing Authority, chaired by state Treasurer Phil Angelides, will expand an advisory program spearheaded by Pacific Community Ventures, a nonprofit community development firm founded by Silicon Valley executives. The state’s grant will match the $1.5 million that Pacific Community Ventures has raised through private funding.

Angelides said that the partnership will give small businesses a chance to take advantage of resources that have helped make businesses in Silicon Valley successful.
